Bottleless Water Coolers and Water Dispensers

The convenience of bottled water is a big draw for homes and offices. The down side includes a big expense over time and environmental damage caused by all those individual bottles. When you're ready to outfit your home or office with free-flowing, filtered water, bottleless water coolers are the perfect solution. Environmentally friendly and significantly more affordable than bottles, our counter top coolers or floor model dispensers fill every need including:

  • Eliminating impurities and chemicals (depending on your desired filtration method)
  • Providing room temperature, cold or hot water on demand to enjoy as is or with coffee, tea, flavor packets, cooking and more
  • Taking up drastically less space than cases of bottles/jugs
  • Keeping millions of pounds of plastic out of our landfills

Bottleless Water Cooler Filtration Types

Sometimes, filtration options can get a bit confusing. Here’s a simple way to decide what type of filtration would best suit your water cooler needs.

No Filtration – You can purchase your bottleless water cooler without any type of filtration. This option is a practical choice for homes, businesses or offices with water that’s been filtered at the Point of Entry. If you work in a commercial building and are considering a water dispenser, you should check with the maintenance or facilities manager to find out of the water in the building is being filtered.

Standard Filtration - Standard filtration usually consists of a sediment or pre-filter and / or a carbon filter. This is, by far, the most popular filtration method used. The pre-filter typically removes sediment including suspended particles, rust and pipe scale. Carbon dramatically reduces chlorine, bad tastes and odors.

Reverse Osmosis – RO or Ultra-filtration removes the smallest dissolved contaminants. It also significantly reduces minerals including lead, mercury, arsenic, sodium, fluoride, and others. When your water is purified by Reverse Osmosis, it’s strained or forced through a synthetic thin-film membrane by means of water pressure. Due to the nature of RO, the process is slower than standard filtration and can take up to 2 hours for the water tanks in the coolers to fill up. Drinkable, purified water passes through to the tanks while the water containing the dissolved solids is discarded down a drain. Thus, any bottleless water coolers that are equipped with RO filtration require an outlet drain. Reverse Osmosis always includes pre-standard filtration, and sometimes, depending on the model, a post carbon filter.

Ultraviolet or UV Sterilization - The UV stage is recommended for well water in rural areas, or in towns and villages that have uncertain chlorination. Ultraviolet light kills 99.9% of harmful bacteria and is FDA approved for disinfecting filtered water. UV lamps radiate at 253.7 nanometers with a power flux of 40,000 microwatt-seconds per square centimeter. UV energy at 254 nm kills 99.9% of various microorganisms. As the water flows around the lamp (which is encased in a quartz sleeve), it is irradiated by the UV light. During this process, water flow is restricted to 1/2 GPM to allow time for the UV light to be effective. UV Sterilization always includes pre-standard filtration.

More Water Filtration Options

Phosphate Filter – If you live in an area with hard water, or a home or business with old pipes, you may want to consider a phosphate filter. A pre-filtration phosphate filter will reduce scale and keep your water cooler tanks from accumulating mineral build-up. They’re easy to install and inexpensive to replace, so don’t take the chance by skipping out on this important option.

Ozone Sanitizer – This is a factory installed option available for the Vertex PureWaterCoolers. The ozone sanitizer produces micro-bubbles of ozone into the bottleless water cooler tank that will destroy bacteria, virus, mold, and mildew. Ozone is a completely natural oxidizer and will not alter the taste of the water in any way. The ozone sanitizer automatically activates for 10 minutes every 8 hours. You’ll enjoy reduced cleaning frequency and maintenance with this option installed.
