About this product

The PURE UV-2 is a 3-Stage Water Purifier that provides clean, disinfected drinking water for all your beverage needs. Its triple filtration includes carbon and ultraviolet sterilization.

The PURE Drinking Water System features Activated Carbon for removal of chlorine, taste, odors, etc., and Ultraviolet Sterilization (UV) to remove waterborne bacteria, viruses, and other harmful microorganisms. A separate and dedicated faucet can be ordered to provide purified drinking water only when you need it!

Your drinking water can be protected from E. Coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella, and other outbreaks that occur from time to time in both municipal and well water supplies. The space-saving design of The PURE UV-2 under-counter ultraviolet water purifier includes three stages of filtration for disinfected, bacteria-free water.

The PURE UV-2 Water Purifier is easy to install and takes up little space under your kitchen sink!
  • Stage 1 - 5-micron Sediment Pre-Filter - First, the water enters through a 5-micron string-wound sediment pre-filter to remove any sediment in the water.
Replace the pre-filter every 8-12 months.
  • Stage 2 - 0.5-micron Carbon Block Filter - As water moves to the 2nd housing, it flows down through a 0.5-micron carbon block cartridge that removes heavy metals (such as lead, mercury, copper) and cysts (including crypto, giardia cysts) as well as chlorine, taste, odors, and chemical impurities from the water.
Replace the carbon block filter every 8-12 months.
  • Stage 3 - Germicidal Ultraviolet - The water then flows up through the center of the carbon block cartridge where the UV chamber is located. As water enters the stainless steel disinfecting chamber, it's exposed to high levels of ultraviolet light that attack harmful microorganisms, bacteria, viruses and sterilizes them. This process of purification works without chemicals and leaves no residual in the water supply. It is also more cost-effective than traditional methods of water disinfection, including chlorinating, distilling, or boiling.
Replace the UV Lamp once per year.

NOTE: Stages 2 & 3 are combined in the same housing.

Ultraviolet disinfection is accepted by both the EPA and the FDA as a safe, effective method of bacteria control.

This compact, all-in-one drinking water system installs with ease and can be used anywhere that clean, clear, good tasting disinfected water is needed. The UV lamp and carbon filters are easily accessible for years of maintenance-easy performance. It's ideal for point-of-use applications including under the kitchen sink, office water coolers, water vending machines, boats, recreational vehicles, etc.

How Effective is Germicidal Ultraviolet?

Ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun has long been known for its ability to destroy microorganisms. However, it has only been in recent years that equipment producing UV light has been manufactured for residential use. UV energy is produced by low-pressure mercury vapor enclosed in a tubular lamp. While a UV lamp resembles a standard fluorescent lamp, it is similar in appearance only. The energy produced by the UV lamp has the ability to destroy microorganisms that can live in water. There are five major groups of microorganisms that are altered by a specific spectrum of ultraviolet light: viruses, bacteria, fungi, algae, and protozoa. When these microbes are exposed to the proper amount of UV energy, their DNA structure is scrambled, and they are unable to reproduce. Since the cell is now sterile or dead, it is no longer a threat.

Frequently asked questions

What does the PURE UV-2 remove?

The system reduces sediment, chlorine, unpleasant tastes and odors, lead, mercury, cysts, and selected VOCs through carbon filtration while UV light inactivates bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae, and protozoa.

Does UV light remove chemicals?

No. UV technology disinfects microorganisms but does not remove chemicals. The carbon filtration stages are responsible for reducing chlorine, tastes, odors, and many chemical contaminants before UV treatment.

Is the PURE UV-2 suitable for well water?

Yes. The system is commonly installed on well water that meets the manufacturer's recommended feed water specifications for hardness, iron, manganese, and turbidity.

How often should the filters be replaced?

Replace both carbon filters approximately every 8 to 12 months, depending on water quality and daily usage.

How often should the UV lamp be replaced?

Replace the UV lamp every 9,000 hours (approximately once per year) to maintain proper UV disinfection performance.

Does the UV lamp stay on all the time?

Yes. The UV lamp is designed for continuous operation, providing immediate disinfection whenever water flows through the system.

What is the maximum flow rate?

The PURE UV-2 is designed for a maximum flow rate of 2 gallons per minute (GPM) while maintaining the manufacturer's specified UV dosage.

Is a drinking water faucet included?

A dedicated chrome drinking water faucet is available as an optional accessory and may be purchased separately.

What maintenance does the system require?

Routine maintenance includes replacing the carbon filters, replacing the UV lamp annually, and inspecting and cleaning the quartz sleeve to maintain maximum UV output.

Can this system improve the taste of drinking water?

Yes. The carbon filtration stages significantly reduce chlorine, unpleasant tastes, and odors while the UV chamber disinfects the water without affecting its taste or adding chemicals.
