Ultraviolet Disinfection (UV) is a proven and safe method for water disinfection. UV produces the same result as chlorinated water. The Phillips bulbs operate at the most effective wavelength. You can rest assured that 99.9% of bacteria and viruses are eliminated, including cryptosporidium, Hepatitis-A, Poliovirus, Streptococcus, Adenovirus, E.Coli, Rotavirus, and Giardia. If your water source is from a rural water supply, or a well, consider adding UV. Ultraviolet will ensure that your water is safe and contaminant-free.
Replace the UV bulb annually.
How do I locate the UV bulb housing on the H2O unit?
Follow these steps to safely locate the UV bulb housing:
- Open the lower front door panel (where the filtration system is located).
- Remove the two screws on the rear upper-left and upper-right corners of the top panel.
- Carefully lift the top cover/lid.
- The UV bulb housing is seated on the cold-tank lid beneath the top cover.
You can then visually verify whether your bulb is:
- White
- Black
- LED V3
If replacing the bulb, always disconnect power before servicing. If you are unsure, contact a qualified technician.
