The pre-filter is the first of 3 filter stages in the FM-2000. Its function is to remove the larger particles so the High Efficiency filter doesn't get clogged. This includes lint, hair, dust, etc. The easy-to-change pre-filter should be replaced, on average, at least once per month. This will ensure your smoke eater continues to function properly. Pre-filters CANNOT be washed.
