BLUE-20 Whole House Water Filter Features
- A wall-mounted system with a 1-inch water inlet port and a built-in pressure relief valve.
The pressure relief valve is used when changing the filters. After turning off the water to the house, simply press the relief valve on the filter head. This relieves the line pressure allowing the housings to be removed easily without having to turn on the water at a faucet downstream somewhere in the house.
- Heavy-duty filters remove suspended material from all water entering homes
- Protects water heater, faucets, and fixtures from damage due to sand, grit, rust, and pipe scale
- Little or no pressure loss
- No discharge from wasted water
- 1 year limited warranty
Blue-20 Whole House POU Filtration Options
BLUE-20 Single-Stage Point of Entry Water Filter System - If you've got lots of sediment, the BLUE-20 Single is perfect for removing sediment before it gets into your home's water system.
-
Single Stage System - 5-micron poly-spun sediment filter. The highly effective poly-spun sediment filter removes the smallest sediment particles from the water before it enters your home's water flow.
(Replace every 6 months.)
BLUE-20 Two-Stage Point of Entry Water Filtration System - This is an excellent choice for point-of-entry sediment removal AND removal of chlorine, taste, and odor.
-
Stage 1 - 5-micron poly-spun sediment filter. The highly effective poly-spun sediment filter removes the smallest sediment particles from the water before it enters your home's water flow.
(Replace every 6 months.)
-
Stage 2 - 5-micron granular activated carbon filter. Carbon is excellent at removing chlorine, bad tastes, and odors. It makes water taste clean and refreshing.
(Replace once per year.)
BLUE-20 Three-Stage Point of Entry Water Filtration System - For a superior level of whole house filtration, the triple system combines the single housing system with the double housing for a one-two punch of water purification. With the addition of a third stage 10-micron carbon block cartridge, your chlorine, taste & odor removal level will be excelled.
-
Stage 1 - 5-micron poly-spun sediment filter.
-
Stage 3 - This dense carbon filter will polish off your water and add a super clean and delicious taste. Carbon is probably the most adsorbent material known to man. It’s widely used in water filtration AND air filtration. Carbon’s uniqueness comes from its ability to adsorb impurities into its thousands of tiny pores. In fact, 1 pound of carbon has a filtering surface area of 100 football fields.
(Replace once per year.)
Features & Benefits of the Blue-20 Whole House Water Filtration System
What Exactly is Sediment? Sediment occurs naturally as particles from the earth (such as dirt, rocks, and minerals) are broken down through weathering and erosion. Not only does sediment consist of minerals, rocks, sand, it and can also consist of organic particles from plants and microbes. If you’ve ever noticed a yellowish ‘color’ or (murky) cloudiness to municipal or well water, this is usually caused by sediments. Dissolved solids (organic or inorganic) are also considered sediments, and these may or may not be seen with the naked eye.
How can Sediments Affect Me? Sediment can affect the quality of water by causing wear-and-tear to indoor plumbing, water pumps, and water appliances (such as washing machines, dishwashers, and refrigerator ice makers). Sediment can clog your pipes or water system resulting in reduced water flow, or even the breakdown of appliances. Sediment can also be a potential health risk… pathogens attach themselves to sediment and can hitch a ride right into your drinking water. These waterborne contaminants include microbes such as bacteria, viruses, and protozoa; pollutants such as fertilizers and pesticides; and dissolved metals like mercury, lead, and arsenic.
Why is Carbon Used to Filter Water? Carbon is probably the most absorbent material known to man. It’s widely used in water filtration AND air filtration. Carbon’s uniqueness comes from its ability to adsorb impurities into its thousands of tiny pores. In fact, 1 pound of carbon has a filtering surface area of 100 football fields.
Granular Activated Carbon – Activated carbon is produced by heating organic matter, such as coal, wood, or coconut shell, in the absence of air, which is then crushed into carbon granules. Because activated carbon is positively charged it’s able to remove negatively charged contaminants from water such as chlorine, fluorides, and dissolved organic solutes by absorption.
What is a Carbon Block Filter? If you cut open a carbon block filter, you’d notice that it appears to be just that – a block of carbon. It’s actually tightly compressed carbon powder. The denser (more compressed) the carbon powder, the longer the water is in contact with the carbon, the higher the contaminant or micron removal rate. Carbon block filtration is the most effective type of carbon filtration for waterborne contaminant removal.
